I am quite happy for you to do it in pairs or groups – and also for more than one book in each session. My key aim is to extend your knowledge of both the books and the themes they cover – so this will help you all and may encourage you to read other books. I would really like one of you to volunteer to look at the Twilight series in particular – especially if you are a fan.
The good news is that I can now confirm that Keren David, the author of When I was Joe will be visiting the class one week to talk about writing for this age group. The other thing I would like you to think about is that I am considering arranging one visit to a secondary school where you can meet the English teachers, the librarian and talk to some young students about their reading. We will discuss this idea in class next week but I think that it will really help to bring it alive for you.
Please make sure that you contact me if you want to borrow a book that you can’t find, as I might be able to lend it to you.
